Meet your Teacher Librarian
Jennifer Walker
Jennifer is a Teacher Librarian managing the Northern Territory Education and Languages Library. She has been working in the education field for around twenty years and holds a Graduate Diploma in Primary Education, Graduate Diploma of Information Studies, and a Master of Information Studies (Records and Archives Management).

As a dedicated Teacher Librarian, Jennifer is deeply passionate about the transformative power of libraries in education. Managing a dynamic library designed specifically for educators, Jennifer is committed to enhancing student literacy, critical thinking, and research skills. She believes that libraries are more than just spaces filled with books — they are vital for fostering reading and learning, promoting academic success and equipping students with essential information and digital literacy skills for the future; teaching students how to find, evaluate and use information effectively, which is critical for navigating the digital world and identifying misinformation.

In her role, Jennifer supports school library staff and teachers across the Northern Territory, delivering professional development sessions that empower educators to maximize their impact. Her work extends beyond the library walls, equipping students with essential skills that pave the way for success both in and out of the classroom.

With a deep appreciation for the role libraries play in shaping young minds, Jennifer is dedicated to fostering environments where curiosity and learning thrive. Jennifer believes that a strong school library is linked to better academic performance, as strong reading skills form the foundation for success in every area of the curriculum. Libraries are also inclusive, safe spaces, that promote equity and inclusion, playing a significant role in supporting student well-being.
